Numascale and Statoil start collaboration project for the application of Numascale’s technology to oil-exploration software
The NumaLoop project is funded under Statoil’s LOOP Product Development Program
The project will build a computer system based on Numascale’s shared memory interconnect hardware and qualify the system for Statoil’s applications. The project will provide analysis of the performance and capability advantages of the platform for the applications.
StatoilHydro has applications with extremely large memory requirements with a corresponding interest in the capability to directly address and access very large amounts of data. With the NumaConnect™ technology applications can have effective and cached access of up to 256 TeraBytes of main memory data.
The project will also study the use of Numascale’s shared memory technology for large storage and I/O requirements and future development directions for the technology.
The project will eventually install and run shared memory systems with NumaConnect cards and bring them to productive operation for StatoilHydro.
